Most bass players learn Lydian by memorizing another scale pattern. In this lesson, I’ll show you a much simpler approach.

Instead of thinking about new fingerings, you’ll learn how to use the major key and your root notes as visual landmarks to instantly locate Lydian anywhere on the fretboard. Once you understand this system, finding Lydian becomes fast, intuitive, and musical.

By the end of this lesson you’ll be able to visualize Lydian in any key and begin using it naturally in your solos and improvisation.

Pick five random keys and locate the root note. Without playing the major scale first, immediately find the Lydian position from that root and improvise for one minute before changing keys.
