I definitely identify Daric! As a Upright and Electric Bass Player and Instructor, I constantly have had students come into my studio (unwillingly dragged by parents), and it’s a drag to attempt to convince this kid that would rather be playing basketball to start to learn the Bass! It’s even worse when the parents blame me for the lack of progress! Too many people try to live vicariously through their kid’s,
Tell me about it man! I hate to see it, but always try to convey the message the best way I can to the parents
Hey Daric, been playing a long time, and have been energized by guys like you. Question: How do you choose what to learn next?
There is SOOOO much I want and am able to learn. It just takes time and reps, but as an older man it’s been proven that it takes many more reps to develope the muscle memory. And I am so excited and yet have a sense of ergency because of my age. How do you choose?
