Minor 2-5-1 Progression
#BASSNATION In this week’s lesson I’ll be covering the 2-5-1 in the key of A Minor. The A natural minor is the relative minor of C major, so there will be no sharps are flats in this progression. We’ll go from 2 (B) to the 5 (E) and back to the root note (A). I’ll be covering the chord changes as well as the progression. Grab your bass and dig in with me on this must know minor 2-5-1 progression!

Playing the A minor , all I could think of is the aeolian mode, as we know the Dorian and the Phrygian are minor modes, can I play these two modes with A minor as my root note while doing a solo?
Yes, depending on what note you start on. In the key of A minor you can also play the locrian mode which is minor. As long as you start on “b”
Hi, Daric. I don’t understand one thing. When I play 2-5-1 progression in the key of A minor (natural) I use Locrian mode for Bmin7b5 (or 2), Phrygian mode for Emin7 (or 5), Aeolian mode for Amin7 (or 1). If we play in the key of A minor (harmonic), which mode should I use for 5 (or E7)? Thanks!
