Open String Groove
#BASSNATION check out this sweet little 16th note groove using open strings. Rhythmically the pattern is pretty simplle using 16th notes but the fingering pattern and use of open strings may be a bit of a mind bending brain teaser! Grab your bass and dig in with me on this one!

“Was Dog A Donut” has the barking dog in their groove. That’s what your lesson kept bringing back to memories.

:Hahaha! Yea Tim! It’s crazy that the hardest thing about this exercise/groove is keeping the strings from ringing. Great job with this… just take it a little bit slower so you can make sure the strings ring as little as possible. That way you can really have control separately of each note. You’re the man Tim!Reply
Thanks for the feedback Daric. For some reason it would not let me reply directly to your reply. If you hadn’t said anything I would not have noticed a ring! Is there something about my plucking/muting technique I should focus on?
So when I see the video I’m checking out your ring finger placement on your plucking hand. It actually came to utilize to mute the A or the Estring. Also I noticed that your thumb can move down a string sooner than it does to help the Estring from ringing. You can even take it down to the A.’ string when you’re playing on the D and G string. That should definitely help.
