Bassline Workout ~ How to spell out each chord (6415)
It’s SOOO important to understand what you can play as a bassline. It’s great to be able to spell out each chord so you know the possibilities that you have to work with.
Here’s a short exercise, breaking down a simple progression That should be very useful to you practice with pdf included.

There’s an excellent tune with remarkable chords where this works especially well. Try ‘Virtual Insanity’ by Jamiroquai. The chord progression for the verse is: Eb–7, Ab 7, Db9, Gb maj 7, C half dim, B maj 7, Bb7#5, Bb 7 and back to the one chord (Eb–7).
Sweet! I’ll check that out! Always looking for new songs 👌🏾
Thanx a lot for that lovely progression! Fantastic song, in my opinion!
This is a nice exercise. I will give this a go, this week. Frankly, I am just relieved I still know my way around this instrument!
Glad you’re still posting this content – and keeping it challenging!
And if I would practice scales and arpeggios, this would be so much easier to pick up…. (Correct finger patterns)… but the way you’ve taught it is very clear…
Will let you know how I get on with it. 🙂
Please do! Would love to hear and see how you’re doing
Hey Jenetta! Thanks so much, like I always say, you got this 🤟🏾
