Are you saying that when you skip the up stroke with the thumb, you make the note sound using your left hand on the fret board? Thanks.
Absolutely, You’re using a “hammer on” (playing the note without plucking) to replace the upstroke when switching strings. Feels weird but you’ll get use to it
