thanks for this video, i literally just joined and you’ve given me the direction for practice and elevating my skill. looking forward to the rest of the videos, keep up the good work
internalize that sound,, cool stuff. I’ve allways been wondering how songs are writen set Keys/Moods/Scales and I see people all over the fret board… And how they stay in the same Key/mood/scale and this is how it’s done.. Okay then time to get to work..ty,
Im not able to play the video
Hey Jude! Not sure why that’s happening. Try refreshing your page or using the link above video
Hi Daric. So when improvising, can you use all of notes in say for example the D Dorian Mode to make a solid melody?
If you’re in the key of Cmajor, absolutely
Thank you for the quick reply. You are a great teacher 🙂
No problem! 😎 Thanks so much
Hello, is there a pdf of the scales over the freatboard? it would help me a little, thanks
Hey Catarina, an outline for this specific scale? Or all the modes in general?
Not sure what happened but the PDF is supposed to be right above the video I’ll fix this ASAP for you!
Alright thanks i got it now, but how can i play this scale over the entire freatboard? just go by ear?
I would start with different positions first before learning the entire fret board. Once you learn the scale in one octave you can move to 2 octave scales. They’re lessons on that here. I’ll send some links
Thank you very much

All of them, but this week im going to study only ionian and dorian i want to be able to play them fluently over the freatboard and also try to put those arpeggios on paper so i dont forget them, but if theres any pdf it would be so great =)
Awesome! That’s a great goal! If you refresh the page the pdf down load should be available above each lesson
Is there a part 9 with locrian ?
hey Carl You can either watch the last part of this video
https://daricbennett.com/courses/modes-course/#modes-part-2
or find it in the Beginners modes course
Hey Daric, thanks a ton for this video lesson.
I know you mentioned learning the modes for each key, my question is what about minor scales? For example; the finger placements for IONIAN would stay the same in the Key of A as long as we know it is Amaj right?
Great question! For a minor key you woyls approach it as if you were starting on the aeolian mode(6th mode). So Aeolian would be your starting point. It would be easier to show. I’ll do another demo of this same concept for minor keys as well. We’ve done before but it’s been a while
Sweet, thank you!
