Pentatonic Placement – Matching the Chord with the Scale
I got a group question from one of the members. They asked if you can use pentatonics over a chord progression. The answer is yes! Absolutely! The important thing to note is that you have to make sure you line up the pentatonic scale correctly with its chord quality….let’s dive into it

Hey Daric, I’m just showing appreciation for what you are doing in your lessons. I love your demeanor, your spirit, articulation, and obvious passion for the bass. As an older guy it’s just great to see younger players taking bass playing to the next level! Thanks
Wow man, thanks so much for this. Love messages like these. Really keeps me going. Means a lot ‼️
Great Lesson Bro.
Appreciate that man 🤟🏾 I find that separating notes and not playing them as a linear scale gives you the illusion that you’re playing a phrase, and not just a boring scale lol
Hey Daric ,
I’ve been learning bass for almost three years now, and I’m so happy I came across your social media page. Once I saw your videos and how you break down the theory of the bass, I just had to sign up for your online courses. I go to the member page every night and do an hour of the lessons. There is something about the way you teach bass, that just connects with me and doesn’t get me frustrated when I’m stuck. Thank You.
Wow man that means a ton!!!! Love to hear that I can help! Thank you 🤟🏾 how’s the journey going so far??
I wish I took up the bass when I was a teenager. I’m sure I would have gotten really good years ago. They say you never to old to try new things and I’m so happy I finally picked up the bass. I love the instrument. I love learning new things and learning songs. I tend to get frustrated at times. But honestly, your courses have given me more confidence. I look forward to the new courses you upload and love the fact you put PDF files as well. I store them all on my computer and I try them every day.
Great lesson. It started clicking, indeed. Like why does the IV chord have a #11 / how can I remember it -> because it uses a Lydian scale!
Absolutely Lenny! It’s just based off of the relation of the current scale or chord that is being played. Great observation
