Thought Process – Live Playing | Gospel Style

Hey guys! Let me know what you think of this one! In this lesson review my own playing inside of a gospel church service. Would love to know if you guys would like more of these. I figured that this would help someone because ultimately the end goal is to be able to implement what we learn and what better way to do than while playing with a band in a live situation??!! As always don’t hesitate to ask please write your comment or questions down below!

  1. Yeah man, it is good to see you in gig situations. I am a pro in Dallas but a good review nver hurts. You are a solid online teacher. If you are EVER in Dallas, reach out. I can get you in front of a lot of local cats. You probably know many already as Dallas is full of solid cats.

    1. Awesome! That’s good to know. I’ve been playing forever just have the hardest times getting a good recording that sounds decent where you can actually hear the bass and not just the drums lol. Next time I’m in Dallas I’ll keep that in mind👌🏾

  2. Daric – this is a great format! Really helpful! Hearing folks break down what they’re doing in an actual live context is super helpful. I think a lot of us struggle to know how to apply things contextually.

I would love it if you also talked through how you’re thinking about note choice and placement of these licks. I’m currently combing through all of your videos tagged “Gospel” to try to learn more about Gospel runs and licks.

    1. That’s awesome! It’s not an easy thing to learn. A lot goes into learning this style because of of the genres included inside of the different songs. So most important thing to do is get used to hearing and internalizing it. More to come 🤟🏾
