Daric how do I stop my pinkie from flying?
Good question, I talk about this a lot. The key is to practice very slowly making sure all four fingers are aligned with each other, something as simple as a chromatic 4 note pattern. Focusing on the fingers that give you trouble. Another tip to try is to use your thumb on your fretting hand in back of the neck. Use it as leverage to squeeze the neck to apply more pressure so the weaker fingers don’t have to work as hard to get a note out
Dario my man, brand new here. My #4 finger is unusable as the last joint was fused surgically so I have no down pressure on my finger. Are there any techniques or ideas for me using only 3 fingers? Thanks! Love the spirit and the lessons
Oh wow, sorry to hear that. But there’s definitely a way around it. That just means you have to work a little bit harder with the three fingers that are usable. Use your ring finger as an extension of your fourth finger. I don’t technically have any exercises just for three fingers but you can use the same exact concept but your ring finger is going to do the work of your pinky. Practice using that as a substitute and I’m sure over time it will get easier and easier
